Double acting counterbalance valve is designed to hold and control the load lowering on the corresponding working body (hydraulic cylinder). The valve isn’t pressure compensated, which means that it can’t be used in conjunction with a directional valve, in which the working parts are isolated in the neutral position (as opposed to compensated ones). It’s imperative to use a hydraulic valve with working taps connected to the drain in the neutral position.
